Over 2 decades ago, a strong group was formed to uphold and protect all that concern the Yoruba race in and out of the country and Diaspora. But what the world don't know is that the believe of this group as grown more than just for a tribe, race or just an ethnic group, though they never forget Paramount Priority, which is to Promote Culture, Tradition, Believe and teach the generation to come about the magnificent people of Yoruba Nation all around the world.
Otunba Dr. Ganiu Adams.
In the last 13 years, the national coordinator, Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) Otunba Gani Adams, has been in the forefront of promoting the Yoruba and African culture through his various cultural advocacy initiatives spreading the gospel even beyond the shores of Nigeria. through the Oodua Festival Foundation that anchors a multiple yearly events & Pageants aiding this course.
One of such Pageants is Miss Olokun Beauty Pageant, which is created to promote and encourage the younger generation right from their learning Institutes. Among the activities lined up for the celebration is the Miss Olokun Beauty Pageant, where a lineup of 14 beauties contested for the coveted Miss Olokun crown.
Otunba Gani Adams, the national coordinator of Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), opened the event with a great speech on what the event is all about, and the essence of creating & pioneering these events under the Umbrella of OODUA FESTIVAL FOUNDATION. In his speech, he also call unto the members of the corporate organizations to look into this cultural pageants for a means of exhibiting and showing their brands. He made it known that the Foundation Brand and the Oodua Peoples' Congress [OPC] are brand that is rooted in culture and vowed to promote the Yoruba Culture beyond greater imagination. He finally, assures that unlike the public believe of the people about the Brand and it's Associates Brand; Irresponsibility, Toutism or Hoodlums are never part of anything close to them. because if they were, they will not be getting more awareness & recognition from all over. He end his speech saying, OPC & OODUA FESTIVAL FOUNDATION is for Peace, Safety, Inculcating Knowledge of Culture, Tradition and Moral Values.
After listening to the speech, SKEI Boss had these to say "If there is other word to qualify the feelings that runs through one's spine at mention of the name Oodua Peaple's Congress [OPC] rather than "Fear", it should be the feeling felt when i was first invited for the event. But sincerely, this is a psychological fabricated thoughts of an ignorance mind, which I was guilty off, till I witness the Miss Olokun Beauty Pageant. I'm a overwhelmed with the Caliber of the people and Royalties at the event, not forgetting the Media/Entertainment Entrepreneurs and Celebrity that honored the event. It's truly a Peculiar show of Cultural edifice" - Oluwafemi Akeem Olaniyi [Femi Biggy "Oracle of Words"]: CEO - SOUL KNIGHT ENTERTAINMENT INT'L.
